EUFORIA by Pure Romance

This project demonstrates the power of seamless collaboration between Pixel and Timber and an innovative local client working in an interesting category. During this project, members of the Pixel and Timber team collaborated with Pure Romance's product development team to create a line of premium intimacy products, including the seven devices pictured below and several jewelry items.

The final products combine food grade silicone and 18K rose gold. All metal components are realized using metal injection molding (MIM).

Uniting velvety soft silicone and the finest 18-karat rose gold with hand-refined metals sculpted for your passion, Euforia luxury sex toys are designed to awaken your desires and blur the line between dreams and reality. Cast aside your inhibitions and prepare to enter a new realm of pleasure.

PRoject Background

This project began with on-site orthographic concept sketches and evolved to include detailed 3D models using our advanced surfacing capabilities in Solidworks. The project leveraged close collaboration with the Pure Romance product development team and led to the release of seven new adult toys for the Euforia brand on an accelerated timeline.

The project began as a series of back and forth discussions with Pure Romance and their overseas manufacturing partner, using 2D concept sketches to inform their 3D comps. This process is used by many retailers (e.g. Target, Wal-Mart, Kroger, et al.) who leverage the design capabilities of their vendors to execute their vision for a product or package design — often with limited or sketchy inputs. The benefit of this process is that it is the vendor, not the retailer who invests in the new design. The problems with this process are that the design is limited to the manufacturing capabilities of the particular vendor, the design capabilities of their team, and the time it takes a vendor to get the design right using often limited design capabilities and sketchy inputs. This comp/feedback loop process can add months to a New Product Development (NPD) project, and the results are often disappointing.

After several rounds of comps and revisions based on concept sketches, Pixel and Timber was asked to complete a fully realized CAD model for each of these devices. This eliminated the need for further comp loops and moved each device to a final design, based on our CAD. Our respect for the technical and manufacturing requirements of these devices yielded a line of toys that stayed true to their original design intent. All products are available at http://shopeuforia.com/intimacy/.

Early conceptual sketch renderings created in Photoshop from hand-sketched originals. These drawings formed the basis for a series of comps produced by an overseas manufacturer. After several revisions, P&T was asked to translate these concepts into 3D CAD. The results are near perfect reflections of the CAD we produced.
